Business NZ has appointed employment relations expert Paul Mackay as Employment Relations Policy Manager.
Mr Mackay comes to Business NZ following nearly 20 years in employment relations roles for Carter Holt Harvey Ltd, Transpower, the State Services Commission and MAF.
As General Manager Employment Relations Carter Holt Harvey, he worked in change management in the largest unionised company in New Zealand, and covered national and international issues including employment relations environments in Australia and China.
Previous industrial work related to meatworkers and other unionised workforces.
He also worked as an advisor during periods of legislative change including the Lange Tomorrow’s Schools reforms that gave more power to parents and allowed for self-managing schools.
Business NZ Chief Executive Phil O’Reilly said he was delighted to have appointed one of New Zealand’s leading and best-known employment relations practitioners, who is respected greatly in the employment sector.
“Mr Mackay’s wide range of policy and industrial experience in both the public and private sectors will be an outstanding and valuable addition to the Business NZ team,” Mr O’Reilly said.
