Business NZ election conference:
clarity on business policies

The business community wants clear answers from political parties on enterprise and the economy, says Business NZ.

Chief Executive Phil O’Reilly says it’s important that MMP clutter does not confuse the important issues related to the health of the economy.

“The electorate needs to hear clear party positions on things like projected government spending, tax levels, roading policy, changes to employment and holidays law, choice in ACC, and whether or not to impose carbon taxes.

“Business NZ will host an election conference in Wellington on 24 August that will allow for debate on these and other important issues.

“The 25 MPs with most influence over business issues in New Zealand will make their case and be available for questioning and comment.

“At the conference Business NZ will release the findings of a two significant surveys – the first, a survey of more than a thousand businesses on what they want from the election; and the second, a survey of the political parties’ business policies.

“Findings from the two surveys will be compared, to determine which parties are the most enterprise-friendly,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“This information will be vital for voters interested in a healthy economy.”
