Constructive approach by polytechs

Business NZ says the offer by a number of polytechnics to support the 9-day fortnight is helpful.

Chief Executive Phil O’Reilly says the training institutions are in a good position to advance the idea which came from last month’s jobs summit.

"Access to free or low cost training to employers and employees taking up the 9 day fortnight is a good example of the can-do attitude that will help New Zealand emerge from the downturn in a stronger position than before.

“Of course, training needs to be relevant to boost enterprise productivity and NZ's long term competitiveness.

“The industry’s constructive response is welcome.”
